CHARITY DAY

Every month we choose a charity to donate 15% of all books sold on that day. Here’s our latest and some of the fantastic organisations that we’ve donated to.

CHARITY DAY July 2025

In July, our Monthly Charity Day — where we donate 15% of the value of each book sold in the shop and online to a charity or organisation that we love to support — was in support of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

The Indigenous Literacy Foundation, the bookshop’s main charity, provide books, books in First Languages, and learning resources to children and families living in remote Communities across Australia. The Indigenous Literacy Foundation was founded by Suzy Wilson, owner of Riverbend Books in Brisbane. In 2004, Suzy launched the Riverbend Readers’ Challenge, with the aim of raising funds to improve literacy outcomes in remote Australia. The Riverbend Readers’ Challenge partnered with the Fred Hollows Foundation to become the Indigenous Literacy Project in 2007. In 2011, it became the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Since 2011, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation has worked with over 400 remote Communities, gifted 752,866 books, supplied 100 playgroups with early literacy Book Buzz resources, and published 109 books reflecting 31 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages.

Last Charity Day in June with your support we were able to donate to Hutt Street Centre, in support of their Winter Warmer Packs for South Australians experiencing homelessness.

Thank you for your support.
